My Bio

Wow, a lot has changed since I was last here, and I don't just mean the site. For starters, I got old. Yes, folks, I am now 40. My kids have grown, I have a grandchild, and although college was a blast and I learned a lot, sadly, I never graduated and was unable to finish my degree due to a health scare. So what does a college dropout do who spent all her time studying the arts with a military background do? I got a soul-sucking corporate job cause it paid the bills until it didn't? However, never once did I give up on my art. I kept it private for me as it helped when the going got tough. I've been rediscovering that side of me more and more lately, and I am glad I now have the time to do it more freely than before.

As part of that change, I’ve been getting recognition amongst my friends and family for my cooking for events or small gatherings, and given the chance, I would fook for a literal Army. I’ve also joined LARPgroups, which led me to Historical Reenactment groups to put my cooking to use, and I have learned to appreciate sewing again. Like my pen, the needle has been a long-time friend that I stopped working with when I was 13 cause I was getting teased, and sewing, embroidery, and cross-stitch were lame. It took me a long time to realize that no, they’re not these like my writing are awesome hobbies and I love to do them. However, when I’m not writing or sewing, I’m creating video content for my reenactment group Bear Hill Shire where I am the Scribe Privy Councilor. Not to mention a member of the Bear Hill Shire Army as part of Archery’s medium armor division. We also host two major biannual events Knight Fall and Winter Knights.

Where do I find the time to do all of this? Well, for starters, I’m now an empty nester, and because of the Pandemic, I’ve lost my job. So I spend my days keeping busy with the things I love, along with keeping the house clean. There are days when not working drives me crazy as I come from a background of you work until you retire and spending your days while unemployed on your hobbies is lazy and selfish. Then I have days where if not for the Pandemic and losing my job, I would be miserable. It’s a hard balance to create between these two viewpoints, but I’ve been able to find it and appreciate it every day.

After scouring my music library and that of my reenactment groups, I was hoping to find some Norse/Viking music that would make people smile, cry, along with a few that would make you feel like you could kick some ass. From movies to TV Shows to well-known folk bands that help bring us back to a time when Vikings roamed the seas while also tending to their villages and farms. This was one of my favorite articles to write, and I am glad I saved the best for last. https://www.gamersdecide.com/articles/best-viking-music

There is nothing I love more than a good fight. Running a Medieval reenactment group, I’ve seen my share of epic battles from my good friends in their armor and beating the crap out of each other in brotherly competition. However, nothing is more awe-inspiring than what Hollywood has put out on both the big and small screen for us. And Hollywood has yet to disappoint. Fight scenes can also be more than just about two people or an army fighting for fighting's sake. There's the self-preservation of culture, family, etc. The toppling of a dictator so the people can have freedom from a tyrnical goverment. Fight scenes have us rooting for the under dog, and chreering when the enemy has been defeated. https://www.gamersdecide.com/articles/best-viking-fight-scenes

To say I hated writing this article is an understatment. Yes being a geek is 90% mental and 10% fashion ( or lack there of ) and like most people in the geek world I'm not a fashion guru. Sure I like being stylish, but a fashion writier I am not. So when I say I struggled with this article, I mean I struggled. How do you write something or suggest something you know nothing about. In the end I learned a lot and this actually became well not so much a loathed subject to write about. I still wouldn't call myself a fashion genuis, but I am more open now to writing about geek culture, which includes the fashion. https://www.evernote.com/l/AY0h1Ql3Us5OarUg0CiBE_rbt02O1N-wpm8/
